Privatizing air traffic controllers will fundamentally destablize air travel in the United States.

Washington, DC  – Today, Americans Against Air Traffic Privatization spokesperson Julia Alschuler released the following statement:

“The CBO report on the AIRR Act released today only confirms that privatizing Air Traffic Control is a costly endeavor that does nothing to improve the lives of everyday Americans. In reality, Chairman Shuster’s proposal would leave American taxpayers and consumers on the hook for increased funds needed to support an untested and unaccountable organization.

Instead of wasting $20 billion over 10 years in taxpayer dollars to hand over a government function to the airline industry, we should be focused on ensuring the FAA can make much needed modernizations already proven to improve ATC services. It’s time for Chairman Shuster to ground this proposal and work with the Senate to move forward with a common-sense bipartisan solution to improving our Air Traffic Control system.”
